Adding a new Section 2.26 to the Texas Mental Health and Mental Retardation Act, as amended (Article 5547-201, et seq., Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), authorizing the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and the community centers for MHMR services established pursuant to said Act to require applicants for employment and existing employees to submit to fingerprinting as a requisite to their employment, or continued employment, authorizing the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, any facility thereof or any community center to receive criminal history record information from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of determining the qualifications and suitability of an applicant for employment or an employee and to deny employment applied for and to terminate an employee when it is determined that previous convictions of the applicant or employee indicates that such applicant or employee is not qualified or suitable.
