HB 865, 49th R.S.
Relating to prescribing an alternate method for the consolidation of cities and towns to that now prescribed in Statutes, and providing that two cities or towns in this State, over 15,000 in population, adjoining and contiguous to each other in a county in this State having a population of more than 350,000 inhabitants, according to the last preceding Federal census, by amending or without amending the charter, if any, of either such municipality, may consolidate in accordance with the terms and provisions of a written contract entered into between the governing bodies of the two cities or towns, which shall become effective when and if but not until a majority of the qualified voters voting at an election in each of said cities or towns, which election need not be held in each city or town on the same day, shall vote in favor of such consolidation.
