  • Confederate States Army, War Department memo notes appointment as 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry 4/26/1861; Union Prisoner of War, captured at Port Hudson 7/9/1863 and transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, 3/21/1865; name appears as Captain of Ordnance Department on Oath of Allegiance to the United States, subscribed to at Fort Delaware, released 6/12/1865; residence in St. Augustine, Texas. Soldier's application notes promotion to Captain in August 1862, provisional army, Captain of Artillery. Affidavit of witness G.W. Slaughter states "Captain Blount was also a member of the 11th Legislature." Thomas W. Blount, death date 5/6/1934 in San Augustine County.
