- Texas Revolution, "probably enlisted" as Sergeant in Nacogdoches company commanded by Capt. Thomas J. Rusk, October 1835; Private, Nacogdoches Volunteer Company, enlisted 3/6/1836; veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto, discharged 6/6/1836. Briefly a captain in the Texas Rangers, and some sources show he served under Gen. Kelsey H. Douglass in the Cherokee War of 1839. Handbook of Texas Online.
