- Study the need for licensing the practice of geology to protect the public interest.
- Consider the benefits of consolidation of the governing boards regulating related professions and trades.
- Examine the public policy relating to the receipt of commissions and referral fees by licensed professionals for referral outside the scope of the licensee's profession.
- Conduct active oversight of agencies under the committee's jurisdiction, specifically including the efficiency and effectiveness of the State Office of Administrative Hearings. The committee should conduct a thorough review of that agency to assess the quality of its performance and the service provided to client agencies. The timeliness of hearings and decisions should be a part of the study. Perform a study of mandated reports to the legislature and legislative agencies. The study should consist of a review of the legislative reporting requirements of all agencies to identify areas where reporting obligations could be streamlined and agency accountability improved. The committee shall make specific recommendations about the continuation, modification or elimination of required legislative reports.
