- Assess the effectiveness of previous legislative and administrative initiatives relating to problems associated with parole violators (blue-warrant inmates) in county jails.
- Conduct active oversight of the agencies under the committee's jurisdiction, including monitoring any developments related to the Ruiz litigation.
