  • Possibly Judge James McCulloch Baker, born 11/27/1797 in South Carolina, married Martha Jane Smith in Maury County, Tennessee, on 8/27/1818, died March 1882 at his family home near Concrete, DeWitt County, Texas. Moved his family to Cuero Creek area (Concrete), DeWitt County, in 1840. Served as Chief Justice of Gonzales County and Probate Judge 1844-1846, then County Judge 1850-1852, and County Judge 1865-1866 in the Provisional Government of Texas. DeWitt County Historical Commission. The History of DeWitt County, Texas, 1991, Fort Worth, Texas, pp. 274-275, crediting DeWitt County Historical Commission.
