(10) Boston is the county seat of Bowie County, though the county courthouse is actually located in New Boston. The original Boston, now Old Boston, was the county seat from Bowie County's organization in 1841 to the mid-1880s when it was briefly relocated to Texarkana. Handbook of Texas Online.
