BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Under current law, state employees entitled to hazardous duty pay receive
$7.00 a month for each year of service not to exceed of 30 years of
service. A graduated pay scale based on number of years of service would
provide greater incentives to attract employees of the state for hazardous
duty. House Bill 657 establishes a graduated pay scale for hazardous duty
pay.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.
