HBA-SEP H.B. 485 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 485 By: Craddick Judicial Affairs 4/4/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Currently, Regan County is divided between the 83rd and 112th judicial districts which requires the state to provide a travel allowance to the district attorney and the district judge of the 83rd Judicial District. House Bill 485 removes Reagan County from the 83rd Judicial District and the jurisdiction of the 83rd District Court. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 485 amends the Government Code to remove Reagan County from the 83rd Judicial District and the jurisdiction of the 83rd District Court. The bill requires all Reagan County cases pending in the 83rd District Court to be transferred to the 112th District Court by the local administrative judge. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2001.
