HBA-BSM, CMT H.B. 2077 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 2077 By: Reyna, Arthur Juvenile Justice & Family Issues 3/25/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Under current law, a child support master is subject to objection procedures in the same manner as an associate judge hearing a trial on merits or presiding at a jury trial. Removing this provision would increase the efficiency of local courts in family law cases. House Bill 2077 exempts a child support master from the objection procedures. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 2077 amends the Family Code to set forth that the provisions of the Family Code relating to procedures for objection to an associate judge hearing a trial on the merits or presiding at a jury trial do not apply to a child support master. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2001.
