Committee Report (Substituted)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, Upton and Reagan counties serve in both the 83rd and the 112th
judicial district courts. It may be more efficient and less financially
burdensome for the counties to serve in only one district court. C.S.H.B.
180 removes Upton and Reagan counties from the 83rd Judicial District.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

C.S.H.B. 180 amends the Government Code to remove Upton and Reagan counties
from the 83rd Judicial District.

EFFECTIVE DATE

September 1, 2001.

COMPARISON OF ORIGINAL TO SUBSTITUTE

C.S.H.B. 180 modifies the original by removing Reagan County from the 83rd
Judicial District. The substitute sets forth provisions regarding the
transfer of cases from Reagan and Upton counties to the 112th district
court.
