BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, under Texas law, the state pays Oldham County attorneys 30
percent of the salary paid to a district attorney by the state. However,
there has been an increase in the case-load for county attorneys and Oldham
County is requesting that the county attorneys' salary be equal to district
attorneys with Oldham County contributing $28,500 and the state
contributing the remainder. S.B. 1839 increases the salary of Oldham
County attorneys to equal the salary of district attorneys.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency or institution.
