BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The 75th Texas Legislature enacted legislation establishing a childhood
immunization registry through the Texas Department of Health. While the
law requires that a parent, managing conservator, or guardian of an
individual must give written consent before an individual is included in
the registry, individuals have been included in the registry without
consent. H.B. 1381 repeals the provisions in the Health and Safety Code
responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the childhood
immunization registry.
