Introduced

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Current law requires the Department of Public Safety (DPS), if it issues a
license to carry a concealed handgun or a license holder makes a change of
name or address, to notify the sheriff of the county in which a license
holder resides. The law further requires the DPS, upon request of a local
law enforcement agency in a license holder's county, to notify the agency
of the same information. H.B. 1021 deletes the provision requiring
sheriff notification.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.
