Coronavirus: What You Need to Know
July 14, 2020UTSA is closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak globally and is receiving guidance from the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, State of Texas, San Antonio Metro Health and The University of Texas System, in addition to other government and health agencies.
What's New
- UTSA launched its Roadrunner Return website on July 8, providing more details about the fall semester.
- UTSA released updates on next steps for fall semester plans on June 30.
- Answers to frequently asked questions about UTSA's plans for the fall 2020 semester.

UTSA’s Public Health Task Force has released its report with overarching guidance recommendations for the fall 2020 semester.
- A phased plan has been implemented for student-athletes returning to campus.
- Campus research activity resumed on June 1 with a phased research recovery plan.
Current Situation
- All Summer 2020 courses are being conducted online.
- The university is waived certain mandatory fees for students enrolled in summer 2020 terms.
- SAT/ACT requirements temporarily suspended for 2020-21 and 2021-22.
- Staff telecommuting agreements have been extended until July 31, 2020.
- All dining locations, including the Roadrunner Café, are closed at this time and will remain closed through the summer term.
- CARES Act student emergency aid grant distribution is now in progress.
- The suspension of monthly payroll deductions for employee parking permits has been extended until July 31. Contact Campus Services with questions.
- Effective April 1, 2020, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was introduced to provide paid emergency sick leave benefits to eligible employees.
Preparedness
UTSA is continuing to coordinate on a daily basis with San Antonio Metro Health and Texas Department of State Health Services. In addition, the university is following guideline documentation provided by the American College Health Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and UT System, and is in routine direct communication with experts at UT Health San Antonio.

UTSA is centering its coronavirus response and decision making on two primary principles:
- Sustaining the health and wellbeing of the Roadrunner community
- Minimizing impact to the academic progress of our students as much as possible
Roadrunner Relief
Students and families are struggling financially, UTSA has resources to help including CARES Act information, emergency grants, and virtual resources.
