Relating to enactment of the Medical Liability and Insurance Improvement Act of Texas; providing findings and purposes; providing definitions; providing regulation of professional liability insurance for persons licensed to practice medicine or podiatry or certified to administer anesthesia in this state and for any hospital licensed under the Texas Hospital Licensing Law; providing the powers, duties, and procedures of the State Board of Insurance, the rights and duties of insurers and rating associations, and rights of insureds or other affected persons; providing for certain notices of noncompliance confidential; requiring policies to be made on not less than an annual premium basis; making maintenance tax applicable to insurance written under this Act; relating to the extent of application of this Act; amending the Insurance Code.
