SB 491, 64th R.S.
Relating to amendment of the Insurance Code; to establish a joint underwriting association for the writing of medical liability insurance in Texas and providing for the plan of operation of the association; providing the powers and duties of the association and the State Board of Insurance and procedures to be followed; requiring all insurers authorized to write certain insurance in Texas to participate; providing for approval of forms and rates by the State Board of Insurance; providing a procedure for appeals; providing certain immunity from liability; making certain requirements for a plan of dissolution of the association; requiring the association to file annual statements and to be examined annually; providing for a medical professional liability study commission to remain in existence through the 65th legislative session; providing an effective date and a date beyond which no policies will be issued.
