SCR 61 64-0 (1975) Author: McKinnon, Mike Creating a joint interim committee to study the feasibility and desirability of establishing a University of South Texas System composed of Texas A&I University and Pan American University; providing that the committe shall be composed of five senators appointed by the lieutenant governor, five members of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker of the house, and two members from each governing board of Texas A&I University and Pan American University with such members being designating to serve on the committee by the full membership of the governing board on which they serve; providing that the committee shall meet initially at the call fo the lieutenant governor; authorizing the committee to employ adequate staff to carry out the provisions of this resolution; providing that from the contingent expense fund of the senate, and the general expense fund of the house, equally, the members of the committee shall be reimbursed for thiir actual expenses incurred in carrying out the provisions of this resolution, and other necessary expenses of operation shall be paid from the contingent expense fund of the senate, and the general expense fund of the house, equally; providing that the actual and other necessary expenses of the committee shall be paid equally from the contingent expense fund of the senate and the expense fund of the house of representatives; providing that the committee shall make its complete report, including findings and recommendations and drafts of any legislation deemed necessary, to the 65th Legislature when it convenes in January, 1977.
