SB 50 Caption: Relating to authorizing the State Board of Education to contract for the rebinding and rehabilitation of free textbooks used in the free pubic school system of Texas; prescribing the procedure for calling of bids and the awarding of contracts on all such books or designated classifications of same; providing for a bidder's bond; providing for a performance bond by each successful bidder; requiring approval of such contracts in compliance with Article XVI, Section 21, Constitution of Texas; providing the Attorney General shall prepare the contract form(s), and when requested by the State Board of Education, shall file suit against any such contractor for breach of contract; providing for the preparation and availability of specifications and stipulations to constitute a part of the contract by incorporation or copy attachment; providing textbooks may be restored for use and rehabilitated by and under the supervisions of the Texas Education Agency when the same do not need rebinding; providing authority heretofore existing and recognized in the State Board of Control to execute such contracts shall be superseded by the authority granted herein to the State Board of Education.
SB 64 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts to authorize Commissioners Courts to create traffic zones for roads in certain counties of one hundred fifty thousand (150,000) or more population.
SB 92 Caption: Relating to prohibiting the sale, offering or exposing for sale of fireworks; providing exceptions; defining fireworks, regulating the manner of using fireworks under certain conditions, providing penalties for the violation of the provisions of this Act.
SB 148 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts by providing for the payment of the salary of the County Superintendent and his assistants and the expenses of his office.
SB 179 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts so as to provide that the Tax Assessor-Collector of each rural high school district in counties having a population of three hundred fifty thousand (350,000) or more inhabitants, according to the last preceding Federal Census, and each county line rural high school district which is subject to the jurisdiction of a county, having a population of three hundred fifty thousand (350,000) or more inhabitants, according to the last preceding Federal Census, shall give a bond, executed by a surety company authorized to do business in this State, in such amount as the board of trustees of any such rural high school district determines will be sufficient to adequately protect the funds of such district.
SB 180 Caption: Relating to amending the Insurance Code relative to the contingency reserve and surplus of Mutual Legal Reserve Life Insurance Companies, and providing that such Mutual Legal Reserve Life Insurance Companies may designate their contingency reserves as surplus in all financial statements and reports.
SB 181 Caption: Relating to amending the Insurance Code relative to Mutual Legal Reserve Companies having a surplus equal to the capital and surplus requirements of a capital stock company.
SB 195 Caption: Relating to providing that any city or town having outstanding revenue bonds issued for the purpose of acquiring, extending or improving its electric light and power system and gas system, or in part for such purpose and in part to refund bonds theretofore issued for such purpose or purposes, which revenue bonds are secured by ordinance or trust indenture vesting management and control of such systems in a board of trustees, shall act through such board of trustees in the authorization of additional revenue bonds for improving or extending such systems or refunding outstanding revenue bonds; imposing certain powers in such boards of trustees for such purposes; providing for the manner of the execution of such bonds; authorizing such boards of trustees to sell and convey property which is no longer needed or useful; providing that such act shall take precedence over conflicting statutes and charter provisions.
SB 196 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts to require vehicles to stop before passing a stopped school bus on any highway outside of any incorporated city or town, and then proceeding to pass in certain manner only.
SB 208 Caption: Relating to authorizing the Texas Prison Board to construct buildings at Goree, Ramsey No. 1, Ramsey No. 2, and Central No. 2, and to make the necessary contracts; making an appropriation of funds available in a special State Treasury account to be expended for such construction.
SB 261 Caption: Relating to providing for the minimum compensation of firemen and policemen in cities of Four Hundred Thousand (400,000) to Four Hundred Twenty Thousand (420,000) inhabitants; providing a penalty for violation of the provisions of this Act; repealing conflicting laws; providing for severability.
SB 262 Caption: Relating to amending the Election Code of the State of Texas to provide that the name of no candidate shall appear more than once upon the official ballot, except as a candidate for two (2) or more offices permitted by the Constitution to be held by the same person.
SB 342 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts by extending the duration of the Special 37th District Court and the Special Criminal District Court of Bexar County.
SB 343 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts relative to the accumulation, investment, and disbursement of reserve retirement funds of pension systems for policemen, firemen and fire alarm operators in cities of 350,000 to 430,000 inhabitants.
SB 344 Caption: Relating to authorizing and directing the Board of Regents of The University of Texas to establish in Southwest Texas a Cancer Hospital and Substation of the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute; authorizing the Board to accept title to land, buildings, equipment and facilities donated for such hospital when furnished an abstract or other satisfactory certificate of title approved by the Attorney General; providing for conformance of such facilities to certain standards and that they be used for diagnosis, teaching, study, prevention and treatment of neoplastic and allied diseases under rules and regulations prescribed by the Board of Regents for M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute; providing for a severability clause.
SB 387 Caption: Relating to providing for the appointment of Juvenile Probation Officers in counties having a population of more than five hundred thousand (500,000) inhabitants, according to the last preceding or any future Federal Census; providing for a salary for such Juvenile Probation Officers and the manner of payment thereof; providing for the appointment of Assistant Juvenile Probation Officers and other employees; providing for salaries for such Assistant Juvenile Probation Officers and other employees and the manner of payment thereof; providing for necessary transportation or car allowance for the use of such Juvenile Probation Officer and his assistants; providing for payments in wife and child desertion cases to be paid to the Juvenile Probation Officer or District Clerk; providing for the making of bond by Juvenile Probation Officers; providing for audit by the County Auditor of the books and records of the Juvenile Probation Officer; providing a savings clause; providing for repeal of conflicting laws only; making January 1, 1956, the operative date of this Act.
SB 395 Caption: Relating to establishing as permanent District Courts, the Special 37th District Court and the Special Criminal District Court of Bexar County, heretofore established as temporary District Courts; prescribing the terms and jurisdiction of said Courts; adjusting the terms, jurisdiction and business of the District Courts of Bexar County; providing that the Judges of the Special 37th District Court and the Special Criminal District Court of Bexar County shall continue to hold the office of Judge of said Courts for the terms for which they were elected and until their successors qualify.
SB 411 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts so as to provide that any county may enter into long term contracts with any agency, district or municipal corporation of the State where revenues derived from such contract by any such agency, district or municipal corporation may be pledged to the payment of revenue bonds issued by any such agency, district or municipal corporation; providing that provisions of this Act shall control when in conflict with other laws.
SB 414 Caption: Relating to compensation of employees of certain county and precinct officials in counties with a population of not less than five hundred thousand (500,000) inhabitants, nor more than six hundred and ten thousand (610,000) inhabitants, and the Justice precincts in such counties having a population of not less than three hundred thousand (300,000) inhabitants in such precincts, according to the last preceding or any future Federal Census and who are compensated on a salary basis.
SB 421 Caption: Relating to authorizing and directing the board for Texas State Hospitals and Special Schools, acting through its Executive Director, to execute and deliver and instrument granting an easement in certain lands to the San Antonio River Authority for certain purposes upon certain conditions and covenants.
SB 428 Caption: Relating to authorizing any city including any city operating under a Home Rule Charter, having outstanding water revenue bonds whose net revenues from its waterworks system for each of the two fiscal years next preceding the date when it avails itself of this law are equal to or exceeds two hundred per cent of the requirements of principal and interest on such outstanding bonds for the year when such requirements are the greatest, to issue for the express purpose of providing funds for the refunding or redemption of its outstanding water system revenue bonds, general obligation bonds, and to be entitled to have paid into its general fund from its water works system revenues like amounts as would have been payable on the water system revenue bonds refunded or redeemed, in addition to any such payments provided by the terms of any contract regarding the issuance of its water system revenue bonds.

SB 16 Caption: Relating to providing that McNamara Vans & Warehouses, a corporation, shall be authorized to establish, operate and maintain a foreign trade zone at San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas; that it shall be and hereby is authorized to make application to the Foreign Trade Zones Board, Washington, D.C., for a grant permitting the establishment, operation and maintenance of a foreign trade zone at San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, in accordance with the provisions of the law and the regulations of the Foreign Trade Zones Board, and that when said application shall have been granted it is authorized to accept said grant.
SB 35 Caption: Relating to amending certain Acts so as to provide for the additional coverage of certain persons who are fully paid their salaries from Federal Funds of the United States, but who are classified by the United States Government as State Employees; providing that all provisions of the laws governing participation in social security benefits shall apply to these persons, except that no matching contribution will ever be paid by the State of Texas; authorizing the Adjutant General of Texas and the State Department of Public Welfare to negotiate all necessary agreements between themselves and with the United States.

HB 26 Caption: Relating to providing that authority is conferred on Bexar County to adopt a "Home Rule Charter" in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 of Article IX of the Constitution of the State of Texas by a favoring vote of the resident qualified electors of said County.
HB 201 Caption: Relating to the amending the Texas Liquor Control Act to authorize holders of Wine Only Package Store Permits to purchase, sell, store and transfer ale under the same circumstances that such holders are now authorized to purchase, sell, store and transfer wine and vinous liquors.
HB 202 Caption: Relating to amending the Texas Liquor Control Acts so as to make it unlawful for any person holding a Wine Only Package Store Permit or owning an interest in a Wine Only Package Store Permit to have an interest either directly or indirectly in a Manufacturer's License, General Distributor's License, Branch Distributor's License, Local Distributor's License, Wine and Beer Retailer's Permit or a Retail Dealer's On-Premise License or the business thereof.
HB 319 Caption: Relating to authorizing boards of trustees of rural high school districts in counties or subject to the jurisdiction of counties having a population of not less than three hundred and fifty thousand (350,000) and not more than five hundred thousand (500,000) according to the last preceding Federal Census, to have and appoint an assessor-collector of taxes for their district and such deputy tax assessor-collectors as they deem necessary.
HB 441 Caption: Relating to amending the Texas Liquor Control Act to provide that a corporation which is an applicant for a license shall not necessarily be chartered in Texas if it held a permit to do business in Texas prior to August 24, 1935, and if its officers and directors can meeter certain requirements as to residence in Texas since August 24, 1935.
HB 684 Caption: Relating to making it unlawful to manufacture or possess burglar's tools adapted, designed or commonly used for breaking into any vault, safe, railroad car, boat, vessel, warehouse, store, shop, office, dwelling house or door shutter or window of a building of any kind; enumerating said tools; providing penalties for violation of this act.

HB 116 Caption: Relating to amending a previous Act, relative to Grounds for Divorce so as to provide that a divorce may be decreed in favor of the husband where the wife shall have been taken in adultery or where she shall have voluntarily left his bed and board for the space of two (2) years with the intention of abandonment, and in favor of the wife where the husband shall have left her for two (2) years with intention of abandonment, or where he shall have abandoned her and lived in adultery with another woman, and where a husband and wife have lived apart without cohabitation for as long as three (3) years.
HB 273 Caption: Relating to amending a previous Act, providing that the "Certificate of Title Act," shall apply to vehicles owned or acquired by the State, County, City, School District, or any other subdivision of State Government; providing a saving clause; repealing all laws and parts of laws in conflict.
